Keith Derba

Keith Derba brings over 15 years of experience coaching basketball at various levels and age groups within club programs. With 9 years dedicated to coaching the MCW Starz, his passion for the game and commitment to player development have shaped many athletes’ careers. Keith is driven by a vision of developing well-rounded players—skilled, confident, and resilient young women who excel not only in basketball but also in life.

Under his leadership, his teams have achieved consistent success, competing at local, regional, and national levels. Keith is known for his exceptional ability to motivate and build confidence in his players. His approach instills a relentless winning attitude, while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, and character development. He understands that success in basketball is built on more than just physical ability—it’s about cultivating discipline, leadership, and perseverance, traits that serve his players on and off the court.

Keith’s coaching philosophy is rooted in creating an environment where players are encouraged to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them. This approach not only promotes individual growth but also builds a team culture where collective success is the ultimate goal. He believes in preparing his athletes for more than just competition—he prepares them for life, instilling a strong work ethic, the resilience to face challenges, and the ability to perform under pressure.

One of Keith’s key contributions to the MCW Starz organization is his role in the recruiting process. His dedication to helping players secure opportunities at all levels of basketball across the country is a testament to his commitment to their success. He goes beyond the game, striving to guide his athletes as they develop into well-rounded individuals—students, leaders, and responsible members of their communities.

Beyond his role as a coach, Keith has had the unique privilege of coaching his four daughters—Jasmine, Kamryn, Mary, and Kaydance—within the MCW Starz program. This experience has been a truly special part of his coaching career, providing him with the opportunity to create lasting memories that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Derba graduated from Stoughton High School playing football for three years as a varsity starter and captain. He continued his football journey at Bridgewater State being elected a team captain junior. At both levels Derba has received awards within the program and conference.
