Special Olympics

In partnership with Special Olympics Massachusetts, MCW Starz is committed to bringing the game of basketball to athletes of all abilities. We want to increase the skills, leadership and confidence of all MCW Starz players, both on and off the court. In order to make our Special Olympics teams special, we welcome our high school players to become a Unified Partner — supporting a Special Olympics player during practices and games.

The Special Olympic team starts in December and ends in March. Practices take place at the Gordon College gym in Wenham. This program is free of charge to athletes with special needs.

Special Olympics Program Includes:

• 1-hour practices Saturday mornings
• 1–2 Special Olympics Massachusetts led tournaments
• Experienced coaches with a history of playing the game and working with Special Olympics or Unified teams
• Skills and drills to increase performance and confidence on and off the court
