Mandy began her coaching career over 25 years ago as an instructor of youth clinics at the Hamilton Recreation Center. Mandy went on to coach the JV girl’s basketball team at Hamilton Wenham High School before being appointed the girl’s varsity basketball coach at Ipswich High School.
At Ipswich High School, she served as a varsity coach from 1993 to 2013. During her tenure there, Mandy led the Tigers to ten straight state tournament appearances and seven Cape Ann League championships. Mandy was named Massachusetts North Coach of the year and is a four-time winner of the MIAA Cape Ann League Coach of the Year.
Alongside her son Michael Carter-Williams, a recruited Syracuse University Orange basketball player and NBA first-round pick, Mandy co-founded MCW Starz in 2016. Through the MCW Starz program, Mandy has been able to continue her love of the game and her desire to help young athletes achieve their personal best on and off the court.
In addition to her coaching and program achievements, Mandy managed Michael’s career during his ten-year tenure in the NBA — overseeing endorsements, community work, and representing him as an ambassador for the Special Olympics and the North Shore YMBA, as well as the launch of the Jr. NBA program.
Mandy also coached and supported all four of her children — Michael, Marcus, Masey and Max — throughout their youth, and all four were D1 recruited scholarship college players. During her high school years, Masey was voted Most Valuable Player.
When it comes to recruiting, Mandy’s record of 120+ college recruited players speaks for itself. She has invaluable relationships and connections with college coaches and knows the system in and out. Her college and private high school recruiting guidance is unmatched.
